The sisters Claudia & Julia Müller, born 1964 and 1965, are working about cultural forms of representation in daily life, folklore culture or history in wall drawings, installations, paper and video works. Humans and animals are central in their work and the artists introduce those motives to a specific spatial and art historical context. They work as a duo since 1992. For several years now they explore larger scales, transfer casual hand drawings onto the wall and let small objects expand into spatial or architectural structures.
They were presented in the Museum Franz Gertsch, Burgdorf, with installations, including a new atmospheric wall painting, complemented by a central wooden structure and smaller objects. In the landscape which was penetrated by abstract holes, several couples could be seen. Claudia & Julia Müller have been awarded the Prix Meret Oppenheim and the Kulturpreis of the Canton of Baselland for their mutual work.
