Art Basel Miami Beach
Tuesday 12th November 2002
Dear Friends,
As the date of the Art|Basel|Miami Beach fair draws near, I thought you would be interested to know about the artists we will be showing.
Art Statements
Stand S21 Hall A
SANTIAGO SIERRA
Although Santiago Sierra (born 1966 in Madrid, lives in Mexico City) started out as a more or less traditional sculptor in an „arte povera“ vein, Santiago Sierra is today best known for paying others to perform his pieces (he has paid people to sit in cardboard boxes, get tattooes, even masturbate in camera). Klaus Biesenbach in artforum a thousand words October 2002.
We will be showing by Sierra recent photographs and video works.
Art Video Lounge
Rotunda of the Public Library at Collins Park
ZILLA LEUTENEGGER / ARTUR ZMIJEWSKI
Zilla Leutenegger (born 1968 in Switzerland, lives in Zurich) is one of the young artists who emerged in Zurich in the `90s. In her video installations she takes up narrative elements in order to consolidate them into a comprehensive mythology of her own person. Hans Rudolf Reust in artforum, Summer 2002, p. 185.
On show will be: Blow Job, 2002; Quicksilver, 2002; Löwenzahn, 2002
Artur Zmijewski (born 1996 in Warsaw, lives in Warsaw) makes films and photographs which deal with experimental, well planned extreme situations. The body - often disabled or oppressed - serves as a metaphor of the internal condition.
On show will be: Singing Lesson, 2001
The dates of Art|Basel|Miami Beach are Thursday 5th to Sunday 8th December with a preview on Wednesday 4th December.
We look forward to seeing you and discussing our activities in more detail at our stand.
With very best wishes
Peter Kilchmann
