101 Tokyo Contemporary Art Fair
Dear Friends of the Galerie Peter Kilchmann,
We are proud to announce our participation at 101 Tokyo Contemporary Art Fair which will take place from April 3 to April 6 at the Rensei School Building in Akihabara, Tokyo (
www.101tokyo.com).
We will be featuring works on paper by the following artists:
RITA ACKERMANN
Fast cars, bad girls, junkie boys – New York artist Rita Ackermann’s (born 1968 in Budapest) depictions of bruised innocence have influenced the worlds of art, fashion and music since the early 90s.
ZILLA LEUTENEGGER
The work of Zilla Leutenegger (born 1968 in Switzerland, lives in Zurich) emerges from the combination of traditional drawing techniques and new technology, materialised by the use of video. Accordingly, she rebels against the two-dimensional nature of video using her „video-drawing“ installations, where the normal limits are questioned as they are shown with now solution of continuity, the works flowing effortlessly from one to another.
DUNCAN MARQUISS
The connection that Marquiss (born 1979 in Scotland, lives in London) makes between modern teenage escapism and older, darker, half-imagined rites surfaces from time to time in tabloid shock stories of devil-worshipping schoolkids, or Nordic Black Metal bands acting out their transgressive fantasies.
FABIAN MARTI
At the risk of further banging on about the creeping neo-gothic tendency in contemporary art, along comes another artist, Fabian Marti, (born 1979 in Switzerland, based in Los Angeles) with the same drumbeat. This time the mood is of sword-wielding knights siring naked damsels to an imagined soundtrack of hippy wind chimes and `70s soft rock.
