FEMACO Feria México Arte Contemporáneo

Dear Friends of the Galerie Peter Kilchmann,

We are proud to announce our second participation at FEMACO Feria México Arte Contemporáneo which will take place from April 23 to April 27 at Centro Banamex in México City (www.femaco.com). Our booth number is H 510 and the phone number where you can reach us during the fair is +41 79 205 5286.
The opening hours are:
Wednesday, April 23: Preview and Press: 1-5 pm // Official Opening: 5-9 pm
Thursday, April 24 – Saturday, April 26: 1-9 pm
Sunday, April 27: 12-8 pm

We will show works by the following artists: Willie Doherty, Jorge Macchi, Teresa Margolles, Fabian Marti, Melanie Smith and Javier Téllez.
For this edition we will feature new black-and-white photographs by Willie Doherty (born 1959 in Derry, Northern Ireland) from his series “Grey Day”, 2007, in which he refers to the technique of his early works. In 2006 the artist had his first Mexican solo show, “Out of Position” at Laboratorio Arte Alameda, Mexico City, curated by Priamo Lozada. In addition to this we will present the young Swiss artist Fabian Marti with a selection of works from different media, including his sculpture “The Death of Joan Vollmer B.”, 2007. The slowly turning light sculpture with bullet-holes reflects on the concept of dream sculptures. From our Argentinian artist Jorge Macchi we will show next to other works the video installation “Tiempo Real”, 2007, showing a digital clock composed of matches. Besides, we will show singular new artworks by Teresa Margolles, Melanie Smith and Javier Téllez.

Next to Jorge Macchi’s solo show „’round midnight“ from June 1st until July 26th at our gallery, the artist will also be exhibiting at Centro Galego de Arte Contemporáneo in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, between May 8 and July 14. Teresa Margolles and Javier Téllez will both participate at Manifesta 7 this summer. Teresa Margolles will also have a solo show at the gallery from August 29th to September 27th and at Kunsthalle Krems between October 5th, 2007 and February 15th, 2008. Javier Téllez’ new film “The Letter On the Blind. For the Use of Those Who See” is part of the Whitney Biennial 2008. He is also participating at group shows at CCA Wattis, San Francisco and Kunstverein Heidelberg. Melanie Smith’s exhibition “Parres Triology” in collaboration with Rafael Ortega can be seen at Miami Art Museum until June 29th.

The exhibition „Der Brief über die Blinden zum Gebrauch für die Sehenden” (Letter on the blind, for the use of those who see) with new works by Javier Téllez will be running at our gallery space in Zurich from April 12th until May 17th, 2008.
