Overview
The Image in Transit is the first major retrospective of Beatriz González at the Pinacoteca de São Paulo. Featuring more than one hundred works dating from the 1960s to today, this landmark show offers the most comprehensive presentation of the artist ever seen in Brazil.

Spread across seven galleries of the Pina Luz building, the retrospective traces over six decades of González’s practice — from her early experiments with mass media imagery to her large-scale works addressing politics, violence, memory, and displacement.

Curated by Pollyana Quintella and Natalia Gutiérrez, the exhibition also marks the artist’s long-awaited return to São Paulo since her participation in the 1971 Biennial.

Co-produced by the Pinacoteca de São Paulo, the Barbican Centre in London, and the Astrup Fearnley Museet in Oslo, The Image in Transit will embark on an international tour:

- Pinacoteca de São Paulo: until 6 February 2026
- Barbican Centre, London: from 25 February 2026
- Astrup Fearnley Museet, Oslo: from 12 June 2026
