Marc-Antoine Fehr: Les nuits bourguignonnes

Château de Gruyères, Gruyères, Switzerland

Overview
The work of Marc-Antoine Fehr is created from the matter of daydreams - a substance that seems both peculiar and alien to us. On canvas or paper, his works thus offer us portraits of a peculiar objectivity that profoundly affect both our direct gaze and our inner eye. The painter draws his motifs from the immediate environment, such as his house, his studio, familiar people, but also discarded objects or photographs, thus creating worlds that slowly fade into darkness.

For the exhibition in Gruyères, the Swiss artist, who lives and works between Zurich and Burgundy, presents an impressive series of artworks and objects - the soul of his studio. Currently, the portraits, still lifes, interiors and monumental compositions find their place in the historic premises of the castle, giving an insight into a mystical universe that always seems to elude us a little.
