Artur Żmijewski solo exhibition, The Naturalist, at Fundacja Alina, Warsaw.

The exhibition treats Artur Żmijewski’s practice as a cabinet of curiosities—a collection of the ex-centric. At the centre stands a display table where the artist’s works meet objects from his private collection and materials related to Alina Szapocznikow. It is an assembly of testimonies to liminal states, but also of artifacts with a strange, dark beauty. Here, aesthetics does not soften the liminal experience—it makes it thinkable. The naturalist does not judge: he describes and tries to understand.
In parallel, another Żmijewski work will be featured in the exhibition “Study of a Flower” at the Edward Dwurnik Foundation in Warsaw (@edwarddwurnikfoundation), Poland. The exhibition is on view until December 12.
