Adrian Paci's work addresses themes of exile, dislocation and loss. Since leaving his native Albania in the mid 1990s and relocating to Italy, he has explored both the personal and the political, often driven by a strong autobiographical impulse. Over the last 10 years Adrian Paci has gained increased international recognition for the emotional impact and intensity of his practice. It is a practice characterised by humour, pathos and an acute sensitivity to his subject matter. This publication accompanies Adrian Paci's first major solo exhibition in the UK at Milton Keynes Gallery. It reveals the depth of his work in film, sculpture and painting, and explores his fascination with the relationship between painting, photography and the cinematic tradition. The book also documents the making of Paci's first 35mm film per speculum (2006), specially commissioned by Milton Keynes Gallery and co-produced with Francesca Kaufmann, Milan.
