In three texts in German, English and French, Ishita Chakraborty's working methods are examined from different perspectives. The French political scientist, historian and activist Françoise Vergès locates Chakraborty's work in post-colonial discourse, while the Indian poet, art critic and freelance curator Ranjit Hoskote examines the role of language and text in her oeuvre. Anouchka Panchard, research associate at the Aargauer Kunsthaus and curator of the Manor Art Prize Aarau 2024 exhibition, will explain important works from the last eight years and position them in the Swiss context, where the artist has lived since 2017.

Thanks to numerous texts and accompanying photographs of sketchbooks, studio views, works in production and exhibition views, we are immersed in the artist's working world. In addition to a total of ten central works by Chakraborty, the publication also contains a selection of the artist's poems, which represent another important part of her practice alongside her installations.
