Overview

As part of the Vias d'Art Triennale Pontresina, Andriu Deplazes and Estelle Labes present two site-specific installations in the public space.

For this collaborative project, the two artists developed two large-scale works that engage directly with the architecture and landscape of the Upper Engadine. The entire front façade of the Hotel Kreuz has been transformed with a monumental depiction of a glacial river, creating a stage for a group of plaster cats that inhabit the balconies. Opposite, a 6.5-metre-high painting has been integrated into the characteristic Engadine façade of the former doctor's house, merging painting and architecture into a single work.

The two installations explore the relationship between landscape, built space, and theatrical staging, offering new perspectives on the public space of Pontresina.
