Join us in celebrating Zurich’s contemporary art scene as the city transforms into an unmissable discovery platform.
We will be showing two solo shows of our two new artists: Didier William (b. 1983, Port-au-Prince, Haiti) at Zahnradstrasse and Grace Schwindt (b. 1979, Germany) at Rämistrasse.
Didier William is a US-based mixed-media painter and his work focuses on constructions of blackness that include the nuances of diasporic identity, and his own experiences of immigrating to the United States from Haiti. William’s paintings undermine traditional aesthetic, racial, and gendered dichotomies in order to reimagine the personal and collective histories, where they may intersect with personal narratives, and what those intersections might yield.
Schwindt, a London-based multimedia artist, delves into visual storytelling, unraveling the impact of capitalist culture on individuals’ bodies and psyches. She analyses how bodies, language, and objects shape history and memory. The artist’s process results from diverse research and conversations with various individuals, spanning activists, artists, politicians, and refugees, among others. Her works often examine historical events, emphasizing social relations. Interconnected media, from costumes to drawings and sculptures, weave together, with shapes and gestures resonating across different forms.
